Summer Fun in Morgan County

Summer might be coming to a close but there’s still time to soak up the sun in Georgia’s Best Small Town! From a magical evening of Firefly fun to star-gazing at the summer sky, be sure to attend these end of summer events in Madison and Morgan County!

1. Star-gaze at the Hard Labor Creek State Park Observatory
– One of Morgan County’s Hidden Gems is the Observatory at Hard Labor Creek State Park. This unique attraction is operated by Astronomers fro Georgia State University and opens one Saturday a month from March until September. Tours and observations begin 30 minutes after sunset and run for two hours.

2. Firefly Festival — July 27 & 28

– The ultimate end of summer celebration takes place in two parts when families, musicians, and fireflies head to Madison’s Town Park.

Kids’ Night! Friday 7/27/2018
Bring your kids (12 and under) out to Madison for a fun-filled evening in Town Park. This ticketed event costs $5 per child (accompanying adults enter for free) and lasts from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The evening will feature bouncy inflatables, creative crafts, and endless fun!

Date Night! Saturday 7/28/18
Grab your favorite spot on the lawn in Town Park and enjoy a night of fun because The Sounds of Motown are back for another performance! The concert is from 7:00 – 10:30 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00. This is a ticketed event ($10 per person) and everyone is welcome to bring blankets, coolers, and chairs. No food vendors on site.

3. The Rutledge Summer Concert Series

– The Rutledge Summer Concert Series is one of Morgan County’s most anticipated annual events. This series takes place in the “Small but Special” town of Rutledge and brings a variety of acts to the gazebo in the middle of town. Be sure to catch one of the remaining performances. Concerts usually begin at 7pm and updates can be found here.
