Weekend Run Down

Spring has sprung and there are fun things to be done! From festivals in Town Park to a fashion fundraiser for the MAGallery, this weekend has something in store for everyone! Check out this list of all of the exciting activities taking place in Madison and Morgan County this weekend!

April 27 – Fashion Meets Art on the Runway
The Variety Works

5:00 – 7:00 pm

Love art and fashion? Then this is the event for you! Head to the Variety Works for this fabulous fashion show fundraiser for the Madison Artists Guild. Don’t miss this chance to preview the latest spring and summer styles from Amelia’s Apparel, Barkin’ Dogs Shoe Co, Cabi, Maggie Lane, On Cloud 9, and Teal Couture.

The event will also feature creations by  MAGallery Artists, a raffle for diamond earrings from Whidby Jewelers, and a Junior Design Competition from the Boys and Girls Club and the Chicken Tracks Art Academy. Enjoy Catering by The Caboose as well as wine and beer from Mint Juleps Kitchen.

April 27 – Bowerbird Opening Exhibit
Madison Morgan Cultural Center
6:00 – 8:00 pm

Attend this fascinating opening exhibit at the Madison Morgan Cultural Center. The bower bird is Australian bird, noted for the male’s endearing mating ritual of constructing a bower adorned with feathers, shells, and other found objects to attract the female. This exhibit by sculptor Thomas Prochnow mimics this charming technique of the bower bird to lure the viewer into his artistic word. This exhibit runs until Aug 27.

Bill Wood Park
7:30 am Registration

The Madison Kiwanis Club is hosting their 2nd Annual Color Run which will be held in Bill Wood Park on Saturday, April 28. 
Enjoy this colorful event which features an un-timed 5K as well as a 1-Mile Fun Run! Be sure to wear clothing you don’t mind getting covered in colorful chalk! White is highly suggested!

Registration forms can be picked up at the Madison Welcome Center located at 115 E. Jefferson Street – Open 7 Days a week!

Regular run @ 7:30 am, 5K Race begins @ 8:30am, and the Fun Run begins @ 8:35am.


April 28 – Madison Fest
Town Park
10:00 am – 4:00 pm

One of the most anticipated annual Town Park events is almost here! Madison Fest is a free day-long festival which features an amazing plant sale, handmade arts and crafts, and live music! We hope to see you there for this family friendly event!



April 28 – Piano Trio
Madison Morgan Cultural Center
7:30 PM

Screen Shot 2018-04-23 at 1.35.34 PMAttend this delightful concert with award-winning cellist Andrés Díaz, pianist Wendy Chen, and violinist Chee-Yun Kim. These energetic musicians provide an evening of wonder and virtuosic playing.
