National Puppy Day

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” — Josh Billings

Whether you have a puppy or a dog who is still young at heart, there’s no better excuse for celebrating your furry best friend than National Puppy Day which is this Friday, March 23!

Here are a few Morgan County suggestions for spending Friday with Fido!

1. Head to Hard Labor Creek State Park for “Bark in the Park Day”
Bring your four-legged friend out on the trails with you to celebrate National Puppy Day! All along the Brantley Trail there are numbered markers that correlate to the Brantley Trail Map. These markers tell about the land and trees along the trail. Stop by the park office to pick up a trail map and mark card. After you have marked out all of the boxes, return it to the park office for a park prize! Parking at HLC State Park is $5.

*Stick around for Puppy Day Face Painting at Picnic Shelter #5 at 5pm!

2. Grab a bite to eat!

Madison is full of restaurants with outdoor seating that can accommodate you and your pup.  The Madison Produce Co. & Deli  located in the heart of downtown is a particularly special place with fun menu items. If you’re an adventurous eater we recommend trying the Burnin’ Sherman (pepper jelly, pimento cheese, and bacon-y goodness on fresh bread). Though your dog may thank you for a bite of that bacon, there’s actually an item on the menu just for him! Everyone’s favorite popsicle King of Pops now makes King of Pups which can be purchased at Madison Produce!

3. Drop your Dog at The Fetch House for some Puppy Pampering!
The Fetch House located in Downtown Madison is the perfect place to pick up a new accessory for your pooch OR drop them off for a grooming service.

If your dog is in need of a haircut or just a bath, the team at the Fetch House has it covered. Take this time to hit the shops and buy yourself something special or head to one of the various downtown spas for a relaxing treatment of your own!
