Madison’s very own Farmview Market is hosting their first Southern Classic BBQ Competition on Saturday August 26!

This is an amateur competition with three categories – chicken, pork ribs, and beef tri-tip. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner in each category as well as an overall grand prize winner of the entire competition. The lucky Grand Prize winner will go home with $1,000!

Competition Entry is $50 however admission to the event is FREE!

Competition guidelines and more information can be reviewed here!

In addition to the competition, Farmview is offering a Breaking Down the Pig demonstration. During this class, Farmview Butcher Glen Wellman invites you into the Butchery as he breaks down a side of pork. Interested participants must register here in advance.

BBQ may be the theme for the day, but Farmview has something planned for everyone! There will be plenty of activities and live music for all to enjoy! Arts and crafts experts from The Painted Pineapple will be present with creative activities to keep your little ones entertained.

Screen Shot 2017-07-24 at 4.55.54 PMIf you have yet to visit Farmview Market, then you must! Farmview is Madison and Morgan County’s hub for all things Georgia grown. The 10,000 sq. ft. retail complex specializes in connecting the farm to table movement with Morgan County families and visitors.

The facility is an architectural dream as it is built with reclaimed wood from barns constructed in the early 1800’s. Farmview serves so many purposes that I don’t even know where to begin. They have a grocery store, a specialty butcher shop, a farm to table cafe, and an open air farmers market on Saturdays. Farmview also has their very own gristmill which means one thing people — GRITS! Check out their mouth-watering menu here.

With a vested interest in educating customers on Georgia’s rich agrarian heritage, Farmview emphasizes the importance of sustainable agriculture through Farmview Schoolhouse which offers monthly hands-on opportunities to learn from the experts in gardening, cooking, farming and more. Look into upcoming classes here!

Whether you’re stocking up on locally grown products, working on that green thumb, or just looking for a great spot for lunch, Farmview Market is an absolute must!

What’s New?

You can now find fresh, local milk and cheese at Farmview Market because Rock House Creamery (RHC) has officially opened its doors for business in Morgan County!  RHC, a division of Rock House Farm in Leesburg, Georgia, is owned by Farmview Market owner, Keith Kelly.

Right now, you can only find these delicious Rock House Creamery milk and cheese at Farmview Market; however, if you’d like to know more about the operations of a creamery, RHC will soon be offering tours, where visitors can watch the processing of RHC dairy products, meet the herd, and tour the 11-acre, certified naturally grown farm next door.
