Ready, set, run! Race season is upon us and Madison and Morgan County are ready to get movin’. Whether you’re looking for a qualifier race or something fun for the whole family we’ve got you covered. Check out this list of upcoming races!
The Real Buckhead Road Race- 5k
When most people hear Buckhead, Georgia they think of a fancy area in Atlanta, but not in this case! If you haven’t heard, the real Buckhead is a town here in Morgan County that was distributed in the land lottery of 1805.
Nowadays the quaint town is home to approximately 170 people and is known to locals as the “real” Buckhead.
Around this time each year Buckhead begins to buzz with excitement for their “Real Buckhead Road Race” which will be held on April 1, 2017 and begins at 8:30 am.
Registration fees are $20 if received by 3/22/17 and $25 after 3/22/17. T-shirts will not be guaranteed after 3/22/17. Race day registration begins at 7:00 am.
The day will be full of fun with vendors, music and a parade!
All proceeds of the race will benefit Buckhead Town improvements.
The 1st Annual 5k Color Run
Color runs have seen a surge in popularity over the past few years and it’s no wonder why! A fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Madison, this event is sure to brighten up your day.
Register for the 5k course or participate in the 1-mile fun run and cross the finish line dusted in a rainbow of chalk powder.
Make sure you’re dressed for success with this run. That means something white that you don’t mind getting a little… colorful. Chalk colors aren’t guaranteed to wash out completely!
The run will take place in Bill Wood Park on Saturday, April 29 at 8:30 am.
Register a family of four for $50 and a single runner for $15 before 4/21.
Registration after 4/21 through the day of the race is $20 per runner.
Madison in May Road Race
Run past picture-worthy gardens and antebellum homes all while supporting the local community. On Saturday, May 13 make your way to downtown Madison where the fun will begin!
The Madison in May Road Race, sponsored by the Morgan County Lions Club to benefit Younglife will present a 5k, 10.2k, as well as a Fun Run.
The course is a flat and fast through the shady streets of Madison’s Historic District. Additionally, the 5k race is USATF Certified and can be used as a Peachtree Qualifier.
